JOSE M. MONGE ROBERTIN, CPA, CIRA, CGMA

Mr. Monge has a Bachelor in Business Administration Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, with a major in Accounting and with a minor in Psychology, in 1973. He was admitted to the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants and to practice public accounting in Puerto Rico in January 1977. In November 1988, Monge passes the Examination for Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) in February 1999, being the first in Puerto Rico. In 2012, Mr. Monge was admitted as Chartered Global Management Accountant, a certificate of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Monge started in public accounting with the national accounting firm Laventhol & Howarth, he entered Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co.,(now KGMG Peat) where he reached the position of audit supervisor. In 1979, Mr. Monge started his own audit and accounting practice. Since, 1989 Mr. Monge has been primarily involved in business development consulting, turnarounds and business reorganizations. During his 40 years of experience, Mr. Monge has been involved in audits, accounting and consulting engagements to credit unions, construction companies, developers, manufacturing firms, retail and wholesale businesses, transportation, municipalities, insurance companies and agricultural projects.  He also managed business valuations, business plans, financial projections and expert witness services. 

In the area of financing, he has been involved in numerous cases of commercial financing with local institutions and investors. In the bankruptcy  area, Mr. Monge has served as Accountant for Operating Trustees, assisted Trustees in Chapter 7 investigations of insider and preferential transactions, auditor for Creditors Committees and accountant for debtors in possession. He has also served as consultant to creditors such as banks and insurance companies to assist in the reorganization of debtor clients.

Mr. Monge is member of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) and Vice President - Puerto Rico of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), as well founder and President of the Puerto Rico Chapter of AIRA.

MARIA A. PEÑA SIGNO, MST, CIRA, REORGANIZATION AND TAX ASSOCIATE

Ms. Peña Signo graduated from Florida International University with a Master‘s Degree in the Science of Taxation in 2005. She possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting of the same university. She was part of the Dean’s List in 2001 and 2002.  Her studies include an Associate Degree in Business Administration where she had graduated with highest honor in the year 2000.   In April 2014, she completed the Certification Program of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. The program requires a three part examination and 4,000 hours experience in insolvency matters.  The CIRA certification is awarded by the Association of Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.  

Ms. Peña has been in positions of management, accounting and controllership, from 1993 to 2011, in industries as diverse as tourism, distribution, manufacture and medical services.

In 2011, she joined Monge Robertín & Asociados as Accounting Supervisor and Tax Consultant, where she works in the supervision of Chapter 11 cases, tax research, and client’s representation in tax claims and investigations.

Peña is a member in good standing of the Association of Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors since 2013.  


JOSE JAVIER NEGRON, CPA, CIRA, CGMA

Mr. Negrón is a graduate from University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus with a BBA in Business Administration with Accounting and Finance Majors.

Mr. Negrón began his accounting career in January 1998 when he established his first accounting services office.

Since then, he is primarily in charge of planning and supervising business planning, taxes, audit and review engagements in a wide array of industries. He also has extensive experience with enterprises financed and funded by governmental agencies.



Mr. Negron completed his cetificvation as Certified Bankruptcy and Restructuring Advisors (CIRA) in 2014 and an admited as Certified Global Management Account by The American Institude of Certified Public Accountant.


Mr. Negron is member of Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountant, The American Institution of Certified Public Accounting and the Association of Insolvency & Restructioning Advisors (AIRA).
Mr. Negron is also Treasurer of the Puerto Rico Chapter of AIRA and Tresurer of the Museum of Puerto Rico Contemporary Art.

Mr. Negrón is member of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants and CPA Firms Committee Member.
